first, I know it's the dvd-release section but in other sections this topic wouldn't be read by the people who are interessted in dvdr... so please let it stay one or two weeks in this section...

Hi guys, in one of my release-threads someone noticed that I'm not releasing anymore. That is right and has different reasons:
- 1. I don't have so much time anymore for encoding and releasing.
- 2. I'm not encoding anymore cause double layer DVDR's get cheaper and cheaper and for the last months I only burned to double layer for myself.

In the past I had to encode for myself to 4.3 GB DVDR so it wasn't a big thing to put that files in emule... but now I don't have to encode anymore for myself and for just encoding for the emule-releases I don't have the time...

And I saw another problem:
The running time of more and more new DVDs is about 3 hours, with bonusstuff even more. The problem of these DVDs is that you can't get a 7.8 GB original DVD to a 4.3 GB DVDR in good quality... You have to cut all the extras and the moviebitrate would still be poor...
With double-layer you don't have these problems. Just cut the lame FBI warnings out, burn and watch the complete DVD with all extras in crystal clear high resolution...

The price of double-layer isn't that high anymore:

And they cheapen the price all the time...

I have a LG GSA-4167 B DVD-burner and I burned more than 120 double-layer porn DVDs up to yet and there was not even one burn-error and they all work perfect in 2 of my 3 standalones (the player which can't play double-layer is nearly 5 years old).

So now we come to the point were this discussion starts. I want to know if you are interessting in double-layer porn cause I burn them for myself and it still wouldn't be a big thing to put that files in emule...
I told you the pro... The only contra points I can see is that the price is still higher than 4.3 GB DVDR and that it maybe would take longer to spread, but hey... I released 2xCD DivX movies with 16 kb upload in the past... then I released 4.3 DVDR movies with 48 kb upload... so why not 6.5-8.0 GB double layer releases with 120 kb ???

I ever was a quality-fan... For myself, I'm more interessting in 1 high-quality movie than in 5 low-quality... But quality is nothing when the content of the movie is lame, I know *g*...
So on double-layer I would only release movies which are in my opinion "must haves". I love the gonzo stuff... So Sineplex, Sinsational, Red Light District, Platinum X Pictures and so on are my favs... and not forget the art of LeCastel *g*.

And even for those who don't want to burn to double-layer it could be interessting cause you get the original DVD (without FBi-warnings) and can encode by yourself to 4.3 GB if you want to. Or just watch the movie on harddisk...

So it's all depends how important quality is for you. I know that my opinion is extreme, but maybe there are other quality fans out there...
I mean our connections get faster and faster: In the past you need 5 days to download a 2xCD mpg release - now you need some hours!!! And it gets faster and faster, so double-layer releases aren't that utopian anymore!

I get your point.
For me personally I wouldn't download DL releases. Be it porn or hollwood stuff. Maybe in some months/years, when down-/upload is as fast as with AVIs nowadays I'll change my mind. But at the moment it seems to much data for one film. Don't get me wrong: I also like quality - but I'm very content with the quality of current AVI releases.
And I'm honest here: There are very few porn films, which I watch more than once.
So for me it's not a matter of price for DL media. ;)

I guess I would download them.. if it's my taste :) But I would suggest you release one and see what happens...

I would download them as well, if it was one of my favorite porn movies. If it isn't too much of a hassle, I'd release the file avi first, and then ask if it should be released DVD-DL.

Or you could try Asut's suggestion and try releasing one DL, although I'm still waiting a year and a half on my poor Fashionatos DL download to finish :(

Overall, I'd actually prefer DVD-DL to anything else, but they seem hard to spread to me (I don't actually know, I've never released one).

Downloading seems to be the only way to see porn in the UK. I would definately download DL, as it would be my only opertunity to see a film uncompressed.
