|
|
Is there an easy way of editing a download so that I can discard what I don't want to see and keep the best bits. I've just downloaded an 800MB file and really only want the about 15% of it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Finally had time to d/l and try Virtualdubmod. Immediately hit problem, error message came up saying "couldn't locate decompressor for format xvid (unknown)" when I opened a .avi file.
Any suggestions.
Also, what file type can read the help file, couldn't find any assocaited reader.

Installing a proper XviD codec like this instead of a directshow filter should do the trick. You may come across that issue with one or two other codecs though.

The docs are in HTML, any web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox will read them. Then again, I'm kind of surpirsed that ".html" isn't already associated with your browser, so maybe you've found a version of Virtualdubmod with its help files in some other format - what's the file extension? |

| You mean the XviD codec? Just download and run the codec installer. After that you should be able to open the AVI file you tried before in virtualDubMod, without getting the "couldn't locate decompressor..." error. Unless something else is wrong ;). |
