Ok.
As the ed2k world gets bigger and bigger, more diversity of porn appears on it aswell. A few years back it was easy for me to just rent a movie which was out for a year already, rip it and release it on the network and being 90% sure there wasn't another version on the network already.
Nowadays however lots of group releases from Pr0nStarS, xDMNx, PORNOLATiON, etc are appearing on the network and besides released by our vast team of releasers, also found in American / Ebony / Latin sections. Some of them are already well spread aswell.
My point of this poll for me is to find out if my ripped movies are needed, when there's also a group release available on the network. Nothing pisses me more off then ripping a movie and find out that it's already on the network available from a group.

While i hate to see your hard work go for naught, i really feel it's bad for the network for there to be dupes. Granted, if it was in a different format, ratDVD, DVD-R, or some such, i could see it. Also, if the current rip is of good quality, i can't really see the advantage of halving the sources for it.... |

| Indeed, better to focus your efforts where they are needed the most, ie getting new content onto the network. Altho, if a Scene rip is horrible and its a movie especially deserving of a proper rip please go ahead and do it. But ultimately what we need is more porn, not more rips of the same porn ;) |

When the current rip has inferior quality, dupes are ok for me. "inferior" is of course not so easy to determine, as some people might be happy with MPG, but I prefer AVI versions.
Otherwise people will be happier about releases of new stuff I think. ;) |

Yeah, I was guessing these replies already. There are some advantages with dupes however, even if they are of the same quality; most "found" movies might have some full sources, but most of the times these full sources have a very large queue so it would take ages to complete the download.
If I would "release" the same movie I would powershare it so people would get it way faster. Indeed it is very hard to tell if a "found" movie is of the same quality, I believe my rips have the same quality (sometimes even better I hear from others) then the group releases out there - so I might just release my rip only if it's an avi not done by a group or vcd.
It's a very hard subject, at least it's nice to see that some people prefer my rip over a group release.
I will keep this poll running for a while and see if more people can give some comments.

I prefer something new over a re-release. However, I've seen tons of movies in searches that are of horrible quality (even .rm), so re-releasing something that is of better quality is good as well.
Maybe there could be a way to correlate the efforts of the various popular ed2k porn sites. |
