No, Overnet isn't completely dead, but it needs to be. Your share ratio is probably 1:4. Granted it's still not as bad as a leecher mod by any means.
eMule all the way. |

Edonkey and Overnet may not be dead, but RIAA has successfully managed to screw them over so badly that they might as well be. That's true for most p2p programs nowadays. mIRC is so infested with RIAA it's not worth getting on. encrypted p2p programs work good, but are slow and hard to use.
Overall, E-mule is the best. |

There is also Shareaza, which connects to gnutella 1 & 2, ed2k, and BT. And also mldonkey which connects to a bunch of networks, but I've never used it. |

Shareaza is not a leecher client, at least not anymore. The latest version adheres the same upload/download ratio as other ed2k clients. |

| There are other problems with Shareaza though. If one isn't careful with their share, they can create alot of incomplete files on ed2k becasue of Shareaza's tendancy to prefer uploading to the network of the files origion... |

so let me repeat: [KraZaka] wrote: Shareaza = leecher client
And I don't think that will really ever change. The problem is how Shareaza shares, which is because it is a multi-network client. Some multi-network clients work, but most simply don't. Shareaza belongs to the group of "don't"s |

Shareaza has the ability to share files it's downloading across any network it's connected to. If someone is downloading a file off ed2k network, it will have the ability to share it across G1 and G2 networks, depending upon requests made to the client. It doesn't prioritize parts to specific networks.
Shareaza is definintely not a leecher client. Most of the leecher clients are emule mods that have absolutely no upload ratio, they simply download and do not upload. Shareaza has worked directly with lugdunum and the developers at emule to ensure that the client shares it's partials on the ed2k network and it's up/down ratio is in line with network standards.
I believe you are either have an understanding about the older Shareaza clients or are somewhat confused about how the client works. Obviously it is specifically a gnutella client, but it is a full ed2k client in line w/ emule.

The changes from just that post are significant.
Quote: How can I can stop sharing files that are being download from eD2k?
You can't stop the sharing of partially downloaded files. This is a big part of why eDonkey works. Shareaza forces partial file sharing when downloading from ED2K sources. If you don't want to share partial files, restart Shareaza and don't reconnect to ed2k.

| Dash, it's mainly about the features. Also eDonkey2000 is getting a filter installed isn't it? eMule offers great features like Powershare etc. It's just far beyond superior. ALso Kad is awesome. |

| My speed is a lot better on eMule. eMule is slow to begin with, but once you've found the mod you like and started racking up them credits, it can go very fast. Especially if you're a releaser. |
