I got a copyright infringement warning from my ISP (Optimum) saying I d/l'd a game, which I didn't. Is anybody else getting these from their ISPs? Are you doing anything about them?

Once I was contacted by a video shop clerk through eMule. He claimed that I had a stupid film shared and he menaced he would sue me but I didn't have that movie at all. On the other hand I had two files of different type (i.e.: extension) containing, separately, the two words forming the title of that movie.
Another time, still years ago, I was contacted through eMule by someone claiming to be acting on behalf of the ESA (which is also the acronym for European Space Agency, the European NASA) ordering me to remove from the sharing a certain movie that I didn't have or they would take it into a legal action.
I have no clue of what ways or algorhythms these people use to do their searches.

This is the Electronic Software Association, not the space agency and it looks like they care about video games. Some a-hole must have stuck the filename of a game on a file that's not a game, I don't have any way of knowing what file because I never saw the name of the game (manhunt 2.iso) until it was in the warning. I'm sure it was buried in all the names people give a shared file. The ESA snoops must have picked it up by trying to d/l the game by filename and nailing whoever happened to be uploading chunks of a file under that name whether it was the game file or not.

I assume you are in the US? If so, I would probably unshare whatever file it is they assume you are sharing thats they think is a game, it seems that they are looking for that one in particular. Make sure you have obfuscation enabled in your client and are using an up to date IP filter ruleset and Peerguardian/Protowall. See the DMCA 512 Safe Harbor rule and you can send that back to your ISP if you want. Otherwise, see what your ISPs policy is on sharing (they might have a 3 strikes type rule setup or something). Read up about it on slyck.com and torrentfreak.com

Hope that helps, good luck!
