|

There's some users on this board who goes overboard with these replys. It gets really annoying when they do this mass-posting in one section resulting new threads to go down to the next pages. Here's one example:
http://www.pornlinkpro.com/search.php?search_author=OCaveira
There's probably nothing you can do to stop this kind of behavior, but maybe it should be from now on.... :? |

Mmm i think you can not automate banning of such users, cause you need some "human understanding" to catch all these crap answers.
But i am sure you can ask mods/admin to ban ;)
A request coming from you, it should not be a problem: you are well known on the board !! |

| We try to stop these people and inform them about the thanks button. Those that don't listen to PM's get banned sooner or later. |

it may suck, but what about a minimum post length. then only meaningful replys could be like 20 characters. so a TY post would have to be like this:
ThanksThanksThanksThanks
you would have to copy and past 3x to get a long enough post.
you would also need to elaborate on a "file dead" or "not working" post. |

| If posts that didnn't have an valid ed2k in it wasn't rewarded with points for ranking I think that the problem would go away |

Personally, I have no problem with the "Thanks :)" type posts unless that's ALL the user concerned is contributing to the forum. And even in those cases (like the one posted by Rednails) I think a PM from the mods would be enough.
However, I do take issue with people bumping really old threads with such messages - for example, in the last month or so 2 of my own threads from October of last year were bumped. This just confuses people, who then think it's a new release. Maybe this kind of thing could be stopped with automation? For example, if a thread is 30 or maybe 60 days old, then it is automatically locked to everyone except the thread starter (in case of updates for siterips, for example)...? |

You see, for me, this is what I really hate, those !@#$ing post spammers.
Just like Larry said, we send those perpetrators a message, but some don't listen cos they don't understand english.
I really like your idea about locking zombie topics, XTC2. But the question is "Can it be implemented?"
Threads can be locked and unlocked by mods and admins only. |

XTC2 wanted it done automatically, but I doubt it. Manually, we mods can lock all zombie threads, but this will be tedious. |

Would this work on this board?
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=243682
But it doesn't allow the thread starter to unlock the thread (unless he/she's a mod of course) so if you guys do think it's worth doing, I'd suggest starting with a long post age (maybe 90 days?) to begin with and see how much that helps things. Although it does work per-forum, so shorts, siterips, requests, etc. could have longer or no time limits. |

I remember that in one board was mod like that, maybe it was even same, dont remember it anymore.
But since files lives long in emule id suggest even longer time to autolock than 90 days. |

It should be 90 days, except for released or found movie threads, in this case it is 15 days. |

Maybe 15 days is a little too short IMHO, but seriously something needs to be done. Just take a look at many of the most recently bumped threads in the European forum:
http://www.pornlinkpro.com/viewtopic.php?t=8789
http://www.pornlinkpro.com/viewtopic.php?t=8848
http://www.pornlinkpro.com/viewtopic.php?t=8962
http://www.pornlinkpro.com/viewtopic.php?t=8646
http://www.pornlinkpro.com/viewtopic.php?t=5871
These are all from May 2006 (16 months ago), with the exception of my found thread which is from January 2006 (19 months ago!). It's not even the same user responsible, so I really think the auto locking mod would be a good idea. |

| I saw that guy too. at least he changed it up to "thanx man" eventually. What is the motivation to do that? I know a higher post count conveys some credibility but that doesnt seem like enough reason to be such an asshole. |

Problem that I see with that program is in the reign-type of threads. Reign-type threads might not have any posts for months, and then have a need to be updated again. It might be possible if it could have certain threads auto-lock in a certain category (i.e. American Found), while other threads never auto-lock in a different category (i.e., Reign Section). |

I've discovered a great solution to the problem. Over at the Stern Fan Network, they have a rule for new members. No new threads for the first 30 days and 30 posts. No more than 1 post per 30 mins. What we need here is something similar. I suggest for new members like the assholes who mass post 'thanks' there should be no more than 1 post per day, for the first month in addition to no new threads. The rules could be relaxed for a period after that before all restrictions are lifted.
I really think this would defeat the problem effectively without any complex hiding or marking threads, which would be a nuisance too. |

| Surely no new threads would actually be the reverse of what is needed? You WANT new members to start new threads and contribute with finds/releases, not just occasionally reply to existing ones...??? |

Okay, how about 2 new threads a day? My basic proposition is that there is a way to control this mass-posting by restricting the frequency of posting for the problem groups. I am assuming it is new users who make 20 posts inside 10 minutes. I can't think of any legitimate reason for doing that.
It has been done on at least one other forum, so it's not impossible. |
